The Ribbon is Cut and the Fair is Open!

Watsonville, CA – With a snip from the giant scissors, the 2023 Santa Cruz County Fair is underway!

One of the most special elements of our Opening Ceremony is the Quilts of Valor presentation. Quilts of Valor is a national organization. Its mission is to cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing. That comfort comes in the form of handmade quilts, sewed by local volunteers. This year’s recipients are Richard Skillicorn, Guy George and Ken Maitoza. We are honored to have these local heroes here on the fairgrounds today.

Also, as is tradition, Ted Sanchez sang the National Anthem from the balcony of the historic Rodgers House.

On this Opening Day of the Fair, Veterans and Active Duty Military (with ID) get free admission. Kids under 12 are also free today. Seniors are just $10.
